You might be familiar of the few Twitter basics by now. And hopefully, you have also set up a clear strategy on why you are investing your time on this social platform. If everything seems dull, season your tweet with some spicy #hashtags!

Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding linked contexts and metadata to your tweets. Hashtags were developed as a means to create “groupings” on Twitter. You create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol (#), i.e. #hashtag.

3 reasons to start using #hashtags.

  • Intensifies Involvement – Since hashtags can be easily traced, people around you can interact with a certain subject by searching for that hashtag you’ve used. The tastier the hashtag, the more involvement you can get.
  • Intensifies Focus – Using hashtags helps your marketability in the social media world since the issues you are burning for will be connected to your profile. Now you also create the taste of your twitter profile.
  • Intensifies Visibility – Another positive thing about hashtags is that it gives the appealing colour to your Twitter profile. You are more “searchable” – people normally follows a tweep using a specific hashtag. Moreover, Google remembers your hashtag!

So remember – use a dash of hashtags on your tweets. Create a pallatable tweet. When other tweeps get a taste of your tweets, they might just follow you. Create an interesting profile and use hashtags as they further add colour. When you do this, you serve your tweets hot like pancakes!

The continuous journey in a relationship works exactly the same way with your interaction in Twitter. You start on a honeymoon; you get to know your way in Twitter; you experience some disappointment; you find stability; and then further increase your commitment. So where is your heart right now for Twitter?

Like in a relationship, there’s a few things you need to do in order to keep the flame for Twitter. Social media will stay for good so be ready to make a long-term investment.

It’s never too late to set up a plan.

  • Define your goals – whether it is for social, political, professional, cultural or for various reasons. It is also crucial to have milestones in achieving your main goal. Clearly defining your goal is a good way to put you back on track in case you forgot why you have joined Twitter in the first place.
  • If you got it, flaunt it! Use your personality and your own style of communication. Nobody wants to talk to a robot, and neither to a wall. If you are trying to find your nisch of tweeps to follow you and whom you want to follow, they will easily find you through your personal interactions. Most of the time, birds with the same feather flock together.
  • Renew, Develop & Improve. The only constant in this world is change. So be ready to renew, develop and improve your goals. This keeps the momentum of using Twitter going. Moreover, by doing this you treat your relationship with Twitter like a living organism.

Successful Twittership requires a solid strategy. And your strategy need not to be a complicated melange of goals. Keep it simple, keep it personal. Then from thereon, push yourself by renewing and developing. That way, you don’t get stuck in the past.

There’s no right or wrong in social media. So, You need to work your way through the intricate & rapid Twitter communication style. Once you get the feel of it, you start recognizing the treasures found in Twitter. While other quickly updates their status, Twitter’s function today has surpassed that “I’m sitting on the toilet” tweet. The interesting part is that there are more of those feed in Facebook than Twitter.

Again, it takes time to realise the true potential of Twitter. There are, of course, a few basic things you need to take into consideration when tweeting. They might seem simple, but people tend to forget them – especially if these conducts doesn’t come naturally for you.

Allow yourself to experiment, try and don’t be intimidated.

  • While people might get addicted of gaining more and more followers, a strong social network is not about quantity. It is about quality. Choose wisely people whom you follow and support as well as engage with them. Choose wisely the things you say and don’t be afraid to stand up for your opinions.
  • And choose meticulously what you share to your network! Then share. Share more. Share again. Sharing is Caring. You’ve heard this probably hundreds of times. But it never cease to be an absolute truth. If your only purpose is for others to listen to you, you’re life in Twitter will be abrupt.
  • Today, transparency is something that engages and attracts. It gives you credibility. I am not asking you to completely expose yourself. Nevertheless, you need not to conceal things to your network. The message here is that never pretend to be someone you are not – whether it’s on Twitter, Facebook or other social media platforms.

In the world of social media, you don’t want a one way communication. Monologue is boring. Social media is not called social media without being social. Quite basic, isn’t it?

Twitter – get lost in it, follow and be followed.

While some avidly adore Zuckerberg’s Facebook. Others get entrenched with Twitter. Privately, I haven’t had a facebook account and not in any time soon create one. Although my own company has a Facebook page, it’s the closest thing I relate with Mr. Zuckerberg’s company.

Twitter, of personal reasons, entices me more personally and professionally.

Twitter is the shit.

  • Compared to the endless novel writing of some Facebook fans, you communicate intensively by using 140 characters in total. I don’t see it as a “limitation”, on the contrary, this promotes a more innovative way of communication.
  • Twitter founders, Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, are quite a bunch of mischievous and intelligent angels. Twitter’s platform is inspired by the function of “bulletin boards”. Message relayed spreads like fire – Quick, Hot & Contagious. The best thing is that it is social!
  • Since I started my account, November of 2009, I’ve twittered, discussed, #ff:ed, listed, gone to tweetups, followed & have been followed, and met amazing as well as interesting tweeps – people I’ve never known in my earlier life. While “Facebook is for people you knew form high school”, “Twitter is for people you wish you knew in high school”.

My social network has never been multi-faceted and exciting as before.

Do you work with sales? Don’t be a cowboy.

In Business, Business concerns, Entrepreneur, Sales on 2011/02/08 at 16:54

Sales people are reckless. Is it a fact?

Sales | Cowboy Businessman Riding Bull Arrow
Besides marketing & logistics, my calling is also in sales; and working in sales calls for a natural passion for communication, networking and relationship.

But I’ve encountered too many a sales people wherein they promise the impossible and take uncalculated risks just to get a sales closure.

Fact or not, there seems to be a major surmise that people working with sales act like “cowboys”.

According to the Free Dictionary, A cowboy, besides its obvious definition, is someone who’s reckless or irresponsible and ignores potential risks.

But what is a sales cowboy?

A sales cowboy is someone making propositions and offers which are unrealizable and with uncalculated loss. Normally the offers done by a sales cowboy encompasses:

  • Breakneck prices
  • Full services at entry level pricing
  • Incredible or not feasible promises
  • Such kind of sales personality is detrimental to the long-term success of a company.

Always account for the entire value chain of your business. Doing this creates a healthy organisation that is capable of providing high quality products and services. Moreover, it strengthens respect and teamwork in the company.

If you’re company has a goal to provide realisable market competitive offers, then avoid ‘Cowboyeurism’ in your sales tactics.

Always aim to secure loyal and happy customers. These customers provide your business extra boost. They can be walking marketeers.

If you’re company has a goal to have loyal and happy customers as well as a solid base of income not only in the short term but also in the long run, then avoid ‘Cowboyeurism’ in your sales activities.

2010 Swedish election – preparing the swedish mass.

In information, Politics on 2010/01/08 at 10:00

    2010’s Swedish Election.

Based on historical events, the status of today’s Sweden and some of the expectations of the masses, I have written down an excerpt on a few things that would make a political party successful during 2010’s election in Sweden.

    • Politicians & The Media – prepare the Swedish population as early as possible for 2010s election year based on POSITIVE CHANGE & NOT ON FEAR. Get Real!
    • Xenophobia from Sweden Democrats (Sverige Demokrater – don’t be fooled by the name!) and other extreme right wing parties in Scandinavia and Europe – So Out! Such Narrowminded politics! Such fearfulness from the party!
    • Xenophobia in general – exploits the uninformed population.
    • Inflexible rules in Sweden when changing employment and job – Outdated politics!
    • Policies that do not support entrepreneurial spirit and small business owners – 2010s losers!
    • Climate concious and “green” parties – inspires innovative thinking, creates new job opportunities and can receive great support from the swedish population.
    • Parties that promote high quality of education and skilled jobs to ALL – plus points!
    • Politicians who utilise today’s new social media in a positive manner – reach more & young voters!
    • Closing borders and missing highly skilled immigrants; politics prone to invest less on social integration – reduces Sweden’s Global competitive advantage!
    • Politicians and Parties who do not accept Swedes, regardless of their parents’ origin & religion – stealth racists.
    • Proposals for greater support to small business owners and entrepreneurs – get votes from the unemployed & all entrepreneurs
    • Parties who believe in and fight for equality regardless of sexual orientation, gender, faith – Win integrity and voices from the Swedish people!
    • Black and white politics, and traditional parties that doesn’t keep up with future development and change – will mold like an old bread!
    • Politicians expressing and acting for understanding, hope, future development and change – a chance for great victory in 2010!
    • Improving quality of education at any level and more investment on school staff – Parties strengthen its position to the parents and the young
    • Candidates who don’t believe and do nothing for the young to get a good start in life with right education and jobs – Harms elderly security! Big time!
    • Parties and Politicians who fear to stand out or think outside the box; thinks and acts  too much according to Jantelag – Just another advocate of lame and weak politics!

With the upcoming 2010 Swedish election, I can’t stop wondering whether we Swedes will vote out of Fear or out of Hope. If I were the majority, I would vote out of Hope. Hope to be better and create a Sweden known for always being a friend of humanity. Hope to be united and defend entrepreneurship, freedom & tolerance as well as our climate and our environment. Hope to create a new, modern and more positive swedish society.

To all of you Swedes, citizens of Sweden, be vigilant. Be very vigilant and analyse carefully the politics of some parties. Read between the lines. Do some research regarding the historical background of the party. Google the persons running for a certain position – find out more regarding their background and whom they associate with. Follow the news, read the newspapers and be active in the upcoming debates. Lastly, vote not on fear, discontentment or unsatisfaction. Vote for Hope, Change and Freedom – as it brings Sweden forward, giving our country a fresh start to rise up again and be a model in the global society.
